365 Project: Day 79-Team Jordan

Someone has, in the past week, gotten a new love of Michael Jordan. Maybe because he has been watching Space Jam or because it's tournament time and basketball has been on at our house nonstop. That someone's dad had to go out and buy him some new Team Jordan shoes. He's in heaven!

365 Project: Day 78-What a smile!

Tate lost his first top tooth! It had been loose for probably a month but Jason and I were too chicken to feel it and see how loose it really was. So, Tate comes running in from wrestling the neighbor (and I won't mention it was a girl) with his tooth in his hand. Yay!! Now I don't have to pull it out. What a cute smile!

365 Project: Day 77-Finally!

We finally got our bar handles on the cabinets downstairs! They didn't have any on them when we got the house. We had bought some a long time ago but hadn't had a chance to put them up. Jason had called a carpenter that was supposed to come Saturday morning to hang them but had to cancel at the last minute. So...Jason spent the day and got them up. They look fantastic! Slowly but surely the house is coming together!

365 Project: Day 76-Go Purdue!

We settled in for a Friday night of Purdue basketball....and we won, which made it an excellent night!

365 Project: Day 75-Little Leprechauns

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

365 Project: Day 74-March Madness

The brackets are printed, the USA Today is bought, ESPN is on the computer, the picks being made.....let the tournament begin! Crazy March Madness! Go Boilers!

365 Project: Day 73-Oops

That's about all I have to say about that....and Jason found it when he woke up, cleaned it up before I got up and took this nice picture so I knew what kind of mess it was:)

365 Project: Day 72-Lucky Duck

Tate came home last Thursday in tears because he couldn't find his Nintendo DS that he'd taken to school. Arghhh! Since Friday they didn't have school, he had to wait until Monday to ask at school. He had 4 people he needed to ask: the bus driver, his teacher, the front office and the girl who watches the after schoolers, which is where he goes on Tues and Thurs. He asked 2 of the 4 and since he rode the bus home he didn't get a chance to ask the after schooler. We drove over to the school to check and, sure enough, she had it. Can you say happy boy? or lucky duck? I, honestly, knew that he wouldn't find it and was prepared to buy another one but made him check with everyone before we got to that point. Lucky me! And now his name is tattooed to the back.

365 Project: Day 71-Rango

After 2 days of beautiful 70 degree weather, Sunday was rainy and cold. Tate and Maren had been wanting to see Rango but with the weather being so pretty, we didn't really want to sit in a movie theater. So this was a perfect day to go. About 5 minutes into the movie, the power went out and you could hear the thunder. I went to check outside and it was hailing. Didn't think I could make it home to get the car into the garage to prevent any hail damage fast enough so we finished the movie and it was clear by the time it was over--with no damage, thank goodness!

365 Project: Day 70-Birthday Party

Maren had a birthday party at our neighbors house. It was a carnival theme with a bouncer, pony rides and face painting. She loved her butterfly and so did not want to take it off before bed!

365 Project: Day 69-Monart

Maren started a new art class at Monart art school for an hour on Fridays! This was her first class and the theme was St. Patrick's Day. She made an adorable leprechaun for our refrigerator. She had a great time!

365 Project: Day 68-Soccer

Spring soccer has begun! Tate (in the red shorts) is ready to try it again. The indoor season was a little rough. The other boys on the team are really good! Their coach is a semi professional soccer player so I'm hoping with practices and games, he will have a good influence on Tate. The indoor season was just games and no practice so I think this season will really help now that we have practices.

365 Project: Day 68-Wine Club

I'm in a wine club that meets once a month on Wednesdays! Very fun! A local wine connoisseur chooses 4 different wines in a certain group. This month was odd-ball reds. There are about 40 girls in the group and it turns more into a social chit chat after the wines are explained. Then we drink coffee afterwards so we can drive home!

365 Project: Day 67-Homework

Homework time...Tate usually has a page of homework a night. He is working on addition and subtraction, learning plane shapes (triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, circle, attribute, trapezoid, rhombus, side, corner, polygon-are some key vocabulary words for that) and, this month, he has to do 4 book reports. He is reading some chapter books. His first report was on Nate the Great. Now, he is working on reading Martha Speaks: White House Dog. They are also writing a letter to President Obama!

365 Project: Day 66-Japanese Chicken Salad

Monday night dinner...We love this Japanese Chicken Salad from Cooking Light. Very light, easy to make and pretty tasty!

Here's the recipe:
2 cups water
2 chicken-flavored Bouillon cubes
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 (2 inch) piece peeled fresh ginger sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
12 cups torn iceberg lettuce (I use a bag of lettuce)
1/2 cup chow mein noodles
1/3 cup sliced green onions
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

1. Combine the water and bouillon cubes in a large saucepan over med-high heat, stir until bouillon cubes dissolve. Add chicken and ginger, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, simmer 20 minutes or until chicken is done. Cool chicken in broth, discard broth. Shred chicken with 2 forks.
2. Combine sugar, lemon juice, oil, salt and pepper in a small mixing bowl, stir with a whisk
3. Combine lettuce and remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Add chicken and dressing, tossing to coat. Serve immediately.

365 Project: Day 65-Church

We finally made it to church on Sunday. We tried a Presbyterian church that some of our friends go to. It was very similar to the church that I grew up in. Tate had a few boys from his class at school in his Sunday school class so he had a good time. We sure miss Max!

365 Project: Day 64-Last Basketball Game

Saturday was the last basketball (and last indoor soccer) game for Tate. He has improved so much in both and truly loves basketball. He now wants to be a professional basketball player when he grows up. And his favorite part of any season is the trophy/medal at the end!

365 Project: Day 63-Date night

We have a new date night set up with some friends who have kids our kids age. We watch their kids on a Friday night while they go to dinner and they watch our kids another Friday night while we go out. Very nice! Kids get to having fun playing while we catch up on trying all the restaurants in town. This restaurant, Yia Yia's, is supposed to be one of the best in town. So, knowing that it was our night to go to dinner, I made reservations there. Jason came home from work that night with a gift card to there from his store managers. Very, very nice! Needless to say, we had a great dinner and the kids had a great time playing with their friends. And it was pretty good!

365 Project: Day 62-Walgreens

After 3 months off, I finally went back to work. I do have a regular store that I'm going to be working at but this is not it. They didn't have me on the schedule until next week so I picked up a day at this store in El Dorado, a little KS town about 30 min away. They are super slow but it was a 10 hour shift. I was nervous for about 5 minutes then it was like I had never been gone. It was a nice day!

365 Project: Day 61-Dominos

Since my kids can't stand to be away from me for 5 minutes, I set Maren up on the kitchen floor playing dominos while I made dinner. She loved it and it entertained her for quite some time. We may have to do that again!

365 Project: Day 60-Dr. Seuss

It is Dr. Seuss week at the kid's school! They both came home with Dr. Seuss hats:)

365 Project: Day 59-Skinny Girl

A few weeks ago, I was recommended Skinnygirl Margarita by a friend so I found it at a wine store down the street. It is quite popular right now and is flying off the shelves so I'm glad I found it. That night we had our neighbors over for dinner and we drank pretty much the whole bottle. It definitely lived up to the hype! Yumm!
We drove straight from San Antonio to Wichita on Monday so by the time we got home, unloaded the car, got dinner (yummy, cheese quesadillas with tortillas from Alamo Cafe) and kids into bed, we were exhausted. Leaving a huge mess of luggage in the living room, I got my pajamas on and climbed into bed to catch up on some shows. A few minutes later, the same neighbor called and said "Are you in your pajamas? I know it's been a long day, I'm bringing you Skinnygirl!" That was, seriously, the sweetest thing ever. I love great neighbors!

365 Project: Day 58-Best Friends

And off they go...Maren couldn't wait to see Lauren and they were off they went like no time had passed!

365 Project: Day 57-Gruene Hall

When we were moving away from San Antonio, we had a bucket list of things to do before we left and we did a pretty good job of doing it all. We never did get to Gruene Hall, which is in Gruene, TX. It is considered the oldest continually run dance hall in Texas and has had Willie Nelson, George Strait plus many more. We decided to cross it off our bucket list. Had a great time with great friends! We may be getting a little old for really loud bass and way too late nights but definitely a night to remember!

365 Project: Day 56-Go Spurs Go!

We, finally, made it to San Antonio and it was so good to be back! The weather was gorgeous and happily left our winter coats in the car. We had a wonderful dinner with our good friends, Julie and Colby, and headed to the Spurs game! Being away has made us appreciate our friends, the Spurs and the city that much more. And, of course, we won! Go Spurs Go!

365 Project: Day 55-Chick Fil A

After 3 months of no Chick Fil A, we hunted one down in Oklahoma City on the way to San Antonio. We all inhaled our chicken with Chick Fil A sauce...Yum!
