Power Disney

DisneyWorld Jan 2010 004 We powered through Disney World in one day. Yes, I was quite nervous about how 2 children would handle an all day event, but, to much surprise, they did wonderful! We are lucky to have Uncle Stacey that works for Disney so he got us a great deal on the Animal Kingdom Lodge and had free passes for us for 1 day. So we decided to do it all. We left the hotel at 8:30am and headed to Animal Kingdom, spent a few hours there and went to Magic Kingdom to finish up the day. We rolled back to our hotel at 8:30pm with 2 tired and hungry children but tolerable. It had been a few years since we had been to the parks and the kids are at a fun age to enjoy it. We can’t wait to do it again!

Highlights of the day plus some things we learned along the way:

1. Always start the trip with the Magic Kingdom. We went to Animal Kingdom first because it closed earlier than Magic Kingdom and the kids could hardly enjoy it because they couldn’t wait to see the castle.

2. January was a fantastic time to go…great weather and short lines! Con: there was a huge crane taking down Christmas lights off the castle so all the pictures has it in them.

3. Never buy the huge balloons. They look cute but were about to be the end of me. By the time we got back to the hotel, I had had Mickey ears and Ariel in my face for about 8 hours was seriously about to lose it.

4. Watching giraffes eat their breakfast from our balcony was amazing!

5. The cool app WDW Wait Times is a necessity. It tells all the current wait times of the rides!

6. Tate was just tall enough to ride the “big” rides including Space Mountain. He loved it!

7. According to Maren, Minnie is so scary she couldn’t even enjoy going through Minnie’s house in fear of running into her.

8. The teapots and Dumbo are classicsDisneyWorld Jan 2010 045 DisneyWorld Jan 2010 055 9. It’s nice to have grandparents that live an hour away from Orlando and uncles that work there!

10. Buying beautiful princess dresses at Disney always a bonus. Princess Tiana/Maren enjoyed wearing her dress around the fantasyland even though it was over her jacket and jeans. DisneyWorld Jan 2010 048 11. The light parade and firework show ended the day as one of our favorites!
