365 Project: Day 29-Our Saturdays
This is what our Saturdays have been consisting of...basketball and soccer games. Tate joined the YMCA basketball team. It's a good, non-competitve team that is getting him to learn the basics, although in this picture, his team is on offense. He doesn't quite understand yet that you don't guard your guy when you are trying to get the ball. We're working on it. Then there is soccer. This team is an indoor 3 on 3 team and is highly competitive. It was a wake up call! These little guys are good. Great experience for him!

365 Project: Day 28--Monster Jam
Tate has been anxiously awaiting the Monster Jam coming to Wichita and tonight was the night. Jason and Tate went and saw El Toro Loco, his favorite, and had a blast! Such a boy thing to do that the girls stayed home and played Barbies!
365 Project: Day 27--Aaaaah!
Aaaah, very nice! It's been a long time since we've seen this temperature! Please stay...until Tues when then high is supposed to be only 16! We'll enjoy it while it lasts!

365 Project: Day 26-Girls Lunch
After doing some errands, we were hungry and decided to have a girls lunch at a new restaurant that opened, Noodles and Co. It was a good lunch place and we got to have some girl talk, which I found out that Maren has some favorites:
Her favorite number is 4, color is rainbow, animal is giraffe, book is Going on a Bear Hunt, which was an audio book at her old school, I need to find a copy of that, and her favorite food is Nana's chicken noodles.
Lunch wouldn't be complete without a tutu and cowboy boots!

365 Project: Day 25-The Little Chef
We are cooking again! Maren decided to make her own pb&j, complete with a chef's hat (aka pot holder) and a blueberry smile:)

365 Project: Day 24-Bananas
With very ripe bananas, a morning at home and a helper that loves to help me bake and climb on the counters, Maren and I made some yummy banana bread. She loved smashing the bananas until they got too gooey and was very good at licking the beaters. I always want to make it when bananas get too ripe but never get it done. Now we can snack on it all week!

365 Project: Day 23-Rainbow Girl and Star Boy
After spending the day doing errands and odds and ends around the house, the kids came up with their own game of being super heros and naming themselves, Rainbow Girl and Star Boy! Too cute!

365 Project: Day 22-Go Shockers!
Go Wichita State Shockers! We got the hottest ticket in town to the sold out game between Wichita State and Indiana State. Tate got to experience his second college basketball game this year and I learned that Shocker is actually short for Wheatshocker after questioning whether or not that was actually wheat coming out of the mascot's head! And being the die hard fans that we are, we left during the 2nd of 3 overtimes to beat the traffic out of the stadium. We made it home in record time and Jason and Tate actually sat in the car in the garage and finished listening to the game on the radio. We won! So, it's not front row at the Spurs game but it was fun!

365 Project: Day 21-Gymnastics
Maren started gymnastics at the YMCA last week! She is loving it and choose it over dance! This week they worked on the bars....and she dressed herself!

365 Project: Day 20--Snow day #2
With the streets covered in ice and negative degree wind chills this morning, Tate's school was cancelled for the second time in 2 weeks. Maren's school, on the other hand, wasn't so we still had to get out to take her. The only bad roads were in our neighborhood which brought laughter from the back seat when we couldn't drive up the driveway without sliding back down. The sun came out, got to almost 30 and the ice melted, they soo could have gone to school. But, we made the best of it, and went bowling! He wasn't thrilled that mom beat him but we had fun anyway:)
365 Project: Day 19-Cabela's
This is the biggest news of the day! Not just that Cabela's opening about a mile from our house and not that I'm a huge fan of Cabela's, but, with it coming, others will come, hopefully! New restaurants, new shopping...yay!

365 Project: Day 17--Ice, Ice Baby
Yesterday, the big arena in town celebrate their one year anniversary with free ice skating, concessions, and parking with face painting, music...the works. Some of our friends were going down there and asked if we wanted to go with them. As we pulled in the parking lot, we feared the worst when the line was out the door and headed down the sidewalk. On further investigation, it was a 2 hour wait to get on the ice and it was only open for another 1 1/2 hours. Hmmm....with disappointed kiddos, we took them all for pizza which made them forget rather quickly. With the kids out of school today for Martin Luther King Day, we made up for it and headed to the Wichita Ice Center, which has open skate almost daily. The kids loved it! Tate caught on fast and after a few times around, he finally let go of the wall and did great! Maren, on the other hand, clung onto me or the wall the whole time, but thought is was all very funny so I guess that's progress. Being from TX and not too many chances to ice skate, my little southerners did very well. Practice makes perfect... we'll definitely be back!
365 Project: Day 16--And the award goes to...
I haven't had a TV in my bedroom since probably high school. We never had one in there and have always thought it wasn't necessary. When Jason was in KS and we were in TX, he did buy a TV, the only thing in the house besides an aerobed. When we got here, we had plenty of TV's for the normal spots so that left our bedroom as the logical place to put the new "extra" one. We just got the cable for it last week, which is pretty cool because the cable box is in the mechanical room downstairs so we've become wireless, and still have yet to hang it on the wall but it is pretty nice to lay in bed and...watch the Golden Globes...with my husband asleep on the couch in the living room:)

365 Project: Day 15--Jalapeno Thingies
Made these yummy Jalapeno Thingies to take as an appetizer to our friends house. They are so addicting! Easy to make and go fast, especially drizzled with some Rudy's BBQ sauce!
Here is the recipe from The Pioneer Woman!

365 Project: Day 14
Game night with a few bumps and bruises--Maren drops the Fushigi on Tate's foot, legitimate ouch. The dramatic one gets bumped, or should I say tapped, in the head and it requires an ice pack and she was pretty proud of it!

365 Project: Day 13-Kansas Sunset
A beautiful Kansas sunset. With hardly anything blocking the view, we get to see them pretty regularly!

365 Project: Day 12-Bella
Everyone was having a little cabin fever today, even Bella! School was back in but it was the coldest day of the year so we didn't have any plans to go anywhere. When we woke up it was 1 degree with a -17 degree wind chill. I even drove Tate to the bus stop that is about 1/16 of a mile away. Bella usually lays on her bed on the porch and watches the neighborhood and on a sunny day, she may lay in a sunbeam out there all day. She has been inside for 3 days and hasn't even been getting her normal walks because it's just too darn cold. So today, she wanted out, looked at her bed, circled it about 10 times and finally laid down. Checked out the neighborhood for a few minutes and came back in. A dog can only take so much!

365 Project: Day 11-Snow Day
Both kids had a snow day today! When we woke up this morning the temperature was 7 degrees (-14 wind chill). Brrr. With the low temps and icy road conditions, they started cancelling school last night. We were kindly awoken at 5:30am with a call from Maren's school saying it was cancelled today. Gotta love those automated calls! The excitement of the snow has seemed to wear off and noone went outside until after lunch when we all got bundled up and headed to the movies to see Yogi Bear. Tate, of course, said since he lived in TX for 6 years, he is warm blooded so he didn't have to wear gloves. Umm, just because your warm blooded doesn't mean you don't have to wear gloves when it's 16 degrees outside! Needless to say, the movie was a much needed break from being at home and by the time we got back, they were back out in the snow.

365 Project: Day 10--The First Snow
If there is snow, the kids will play! After the 6 inches of snow we got in the last 24 hours, the sleds and a shovel, I stocked up on last week, were put to good use. Tate got home from school and was outside until almost dark. All the neighbor kids were outside sledding, building forts and having snowball fights, soaking up all the excitement a first snow brings. And hot chocolate was waiting when he came inside!

365 Project: Day 9
Let it snow! This is the first time in a long time (OK, maybe 11 years) that it has actually snowed at our house. I, take that back, it did snow in Houston, unexpectedly, in 2004 but not for long and it didn't stay but 10 minutes. This is actual accumulating snow coming down in big ol' flakes. It was kind of exciting walking around the house and seeing it snow outside. We are projected to get 2-4 inches, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. Snow day??

365 Project: Day 7
Mario Kart....Wii! A relaxing Friday night with basketball practice in the garage, pizza, wine, a fire and a litte Wii! Nice!

365 Project: Day 6-Pinkalicious
Pinkalicious and her pink bubble gum ice cream-- which was actually a bribe to keep her in her bed last night. For weeks, she has been getting up in the middle of the night, multiple times, according to her because a snow monster is going to come in her room. We take her back to her bed, here she comes, put her in the guest room bed, here she comes back to our bed where she sleeps perpendicular and kicks us all night. Noone has been getting much sleep. Needless to say, the promise of ice cream after school kept her in bed for pretty much most of the night...until about 5am. I'll take it!

365 Project: Day 5
Here comes the bus! It was Tate's first day riding the school bus to his new school. I had been dropping him off and picking him up. This is so much easier even though the school is only a mile away:)

365 Project: Day 4
This is quite a few of my New Year's resolutions all in 1 picture! My first day back at the gym in a loooong time. Trying to run, take a picture (little blurry due to the running) and read all about being healthy!

365 Project: Day 3
Sums up the day...Mom getting caught up on Target shopping and kiddos getting caught up on all their new toys after being out of town for the past 8 days.
365 Project: Day 2
On our long ride home from IN, our one big stop was at the American Girl store in Kansas City to get Maren's new doll some clothes. So it made us miss the Colts game....but we definitely needed the break!
365 Project: Day 1
So, it's been 8 month hiatus, but I'm back and copying ideas, again! One of my friends started this project and I have seen it done before, thought it was a great idea but never did it. So...with her motivation, I'm going to give it a try. I do love to take pictures of just about everything, mostly because if I didn't I would forget 99% of what we do and I love to look back on them. It's amazing to see how little the kids were and how big they have gotten. I'm way behind on my picture organization and, with the new year, it's always a time for resolutions. Hopefully this will help! Here starts a picture a day (and I'm already 3 days late)...for 365 days!
